Short Course Event Series Kingston

 We are following similar rules to OHTA /Equine Canada rules. We are not a sanctioned Event.     

There are some rule changes for 2011 please read the following.  

The  ground jury and show organizer reserves the right to change the course due to weather and footing conditions at any time.    And a competitor may be asked to ride early in order for the show to run on a timely fashion.

  • Judges decisions are final.

  • All volunteers are to be treated with respect and appreciation at all times.

    Any outbursts will result in that person being asked to leave the  show grounds immediately and any competitor doing the same will  result in immediate elimination /disqualification.

  • Please keep in mind that Everyone helping with the shows are volunteers.
  •  SHORT COURSE EVENTING

    RULES SUMMARY

    MANDATORY: All competitors must have 

      1. Short Course Eventing WAIVER - Completed and sent in time to arrive before the closing date with your entry form
      2. Short Course Entry Form - Completed and sent in time to arrive before the closing date (a late fee of  $25.00 if late)
      3. OEF MEMBERSHIP  - you can do this ON LINE-- include your OEF number with your entry
      4. ASTM Helmet for all riders in all stages.  Helmets must be worn at all times when on horse back or lunging.
      5. ARMBAND: Mandatory on LEFT ARM . You must wear a medical arm band on your left arm. NO where else.     
        • These are NOT priovided by the host farm. You need to have purchased them in advance.
        • Both Wilton Tack and Bridle Path Tack carry them and have them in stock for around $10.00 each.
      6. BACK PROTECTORS, HELMETS and ARM BANDS must be worn - for all riders in all warm up and jumping areas
      7. Number assigned to each horse  must be  attached to horses at all times.  (can be on rider while mounted).

    General Assistance

           "One-Time" ASSISTANCE RULE - for any divisions - 2'6 are to be marked as no longer eligable for Provicial standings with this marking

    Dressage = - 2 off score , and if off course -2 off score for each occurrence

    Jumping = 10 pp

    JUMP Penalties 

    Refusals/ run outs/ stop with loss of forward movement:      

                        Stadium Jumps = 4 pp  each occurance

                              Cross Country = 20 pp  each occurance

          Rail     - 4pp      each rail

     Eliminations:  

    Any rudeness or abusive behavior to horses, show organizers  or volunteers      

                     JUMP

      • Any Fall  of horse or rider – they are eliminated and cannot continue, in warm up or on course.
      • 3 Refusals -- 4th eliminated but rider but can continue/finish course.

                      DRESSAGE– eliminated if 

      • Horse leaves ring with all 4 feet
      • Fall of horse or rider

    CANCELLATION POLICY

    • Refund permitted LESS $25 Administration Fee. 
    • ONLY permissible with a  Veterinarian's and/or Physician's certificate.
    • Host site has the right to cancel their event for any reason whatsoever
    •            (ie: insufficient entries, unsafe weather conditions, etc.). 
    •     Entrants will be given a refund LESS $25 Admin.Fee.

    DEADLINE POLICY

    •      Entries AND payments MUST be received 1 week before Event Date.         
    •      No exceptions.

    ENTRIES

    INCOMPLETE entries will not be accepted.   Please print clearly.  Illegible entries will not be accepted.  

      1. Make sure you attach:
      2. a) photocopy of OEF membership    
      3. b) parent signature if JUNIOR  on all FORMS   
      4. c) payment  in full - no post dated cheques

    FEES: 

      $85       Full Division (includes jump improvement & insurance levy) 
      $65       'Add-on' 2nd Full Division     ( same horse / same rider/ Hors Concours for lower divison )  **
      $85       Full Division Hors Concours ( same division /same  horse / different rider)**$30       Dressage ONLY 
      $10       'Add-on' Dressage (each additional test)**   'SAME HORSE'  RULE  The same horse CAN compete in all 3 divisions provided there is a different rider for each division, MAX 4 divisions for the whole day.

      IF ridden by the same rider : then only 2 divisions and then the lowest division must be 'pre-selected' to be ridden HORS CONCOURS. 

      Same horse / rider can be ridden by the same division twice as long as  the 2nd Ride is ridden HORS CONCOURS.

      Same horse CAN compete in a single division twice (with  different riders)

      Any horse/rider competing in two divisions will only awarded for highest division  completed.  The lower level division will be HORS CONCOURS.

      In the case of “ties” in dressage  placing will be decided based on the person with the highest collective marks, if there is still a tie you can go to the person with the higher marks on movements with a double co-efficient. ( Policy regarding this is at  the discretion of the show host  ) In case there is still a “tie” Normally skip ribbons so 1st, 2nd and if two are tied for 3rd the next ribbon would be 5th.

     Divisions and  Expected Speeds

      18" division       200-250 mpm            a good steady trot         

      2'0 division       250-300 mpm            a good strong trot with some slow canters   

      2'6  division      300-350 mpm            a steady slow canter with some trot steps

     In order to follow the Provincial standards, which we must adhere to in order for our riders to qualify for the provincial standing,

    There will be NO Coaching or assistance is allowed at the 2’6 / Pre-entry level. 

     However, should assistance be required the competitor will finish the day hour-concur. (Non-competitor)

     Awards presented for Champion and Reserve HIGH POINT at the year end banquet .

    Points awarded for year end is as follows:
    1st-6, 2nd -5, 3rd-4, 4th-3,5th-2, 6th-1

    Classes with less than 6 entries will points will be awarded according to the Max entry count.  

    eg:
    3 entries: 1st-3, 2nd-2, 3rd-1  IF the division has more than 6 entries points will be awarded from Max number down. ie. 10 entries - 1st gets 10 points 2nd gets 9 and so on. Provincial points are a max of 6 for any first place finish.

    Riders must compete in division at minimum 3 shows to be eligible for award.
    If rider and horse combo win high point at more than one level, they will be awarded the higher level only.
